About the CO2NOR Project...
The Troodos Ophiolite Complex
The Troodos Mountains (Cyprus) are well known for their geology, comprising the best preserved ophiolite complex worldwide, the Troodos Ophiolite.
|
Promising Rocks for CO2 Capture and StorageThe CO2NOR Project will focus on the mineral carbonation of ultramafic and mafic rocks from the Troodos ophiolite. Such lithologies contain substantial quantities of mineral phases with the highest potential for CO2 mineralization (olivine, pyroxene and serpentine).

The Ball Milling Process
A ball mill is a type of grinder in which a few hundred grams of powder can be milled at a specific time. The goal of the CO2NOR Project is to use the ball milling process for the production of novel nanomaterials with enhanced CO2-storage capacity, based on ultramafic and mafic ophiolitic rocks from the Troodos ophiolite.
